Keep Your Panels Performing at Their Best With Solar Panel Cleaning

Utah weather is tough on exteriors. It’s particularly bad for your solar panels. Dust storms roll through, birds leave their mark, and mineral-heavy water dries into stubborn spots under the summer sun.

If you don’t stay on top of solar panel cleaning, that grime can block sunlight and cut your panel output significantly. That means you’ll need to rely on the grid more, driving up your power bill.

Sundance Window Cleaning has been keeping homes in the area spotless for years, and professional solar panel cleaning in the Wasatch Front has become one of our most requested add-ons.

Our cleaning method is simple and gentle. No chemicals, no harsh soaps, just purified, deionized water and a soft boar’s hair brush. We use long water-fed poles to scrub away buildup without scratching or streaking your panels.

We start with a safety focus, using harnesses and inspecting your roof before we begin. We’ll even take photos so you can see any issues.

Most homeowners schedule their rooftop solar panel safety inspection and cleaning as part of their seasonal maintenance plan or bundle it with house washing or other services.

It’s an easy way to keep your house looking great while saving time and money.

Straightforward Solar Panel Cleaning Pricing

Now let’s deal with everyone’s first question. How much will you pay for our eco-friendly solar maintenance services?

Service Pricing Breakdown

We make it easy by charging per panel, with a $200 minimum. The price for our deionized water solar panel cleaning method depends on:

  • The number of panels
  • How steep your roof is
  • How many stories your home is

We don’t even use your water; we bring our own purified water tanks. You need to weigh up the costs against the increase in solar efficiency with regular panel washing.

Special Offers and Discounts

We include solar panel cleaning in our maintenance plans:
  • Bronze gets two visits a year
  • Silver gets three
  • Gold receives cleaning every quarter.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, you don’t need to be home as long as we have safe access to the panels. If your panels are located on a locked gate, inside a courtyard, or require roof access from inside the home, we’ll coordinate access details ahead of time. Most cleanings are completed from the exterior without any homeowner involvement.

We do not clean panels that show visible signs of cracks, separation, or loose connections. If we arrive and discover damage, we’ll document it with photos and inform you before proceeding. Cleaning damaged panels can worsen the issue, so we prioritize safety and long-term performance.

While results aren’t always visible, many homeowners notice a boost in solar efficiency after cleaning. Dirty panels can reduce output by up to 20%, especially when covered in dust or bird droppings. We recommend monitoring your energy system or consulting your solar provider to compare before-and-after production levels.

The cleaning method remains the same, but we adjust for safety and surface conditions. On extremely hot days, water may evaporate faster, so we may work in smaller sections. If temperatures or roof surfaces are unsafe (icy, unstable, or too hot), we may reschedule for technician safety.

Please ensure pets are secured and any gates providing access to the roof or panel area are unlocked. There’s no need to be home, and no prep is required on the panels themselves. If you’re aware of any issues like bird nests or electrical concerns, just let us know in advance.

We use deionized water to prevent new mineral spots, but existing hard water buildup may not fully come off. If sprinklers or roof runoff have caused calcium deposits, we’ll do our best to reduce them, but removal depends on how long the buildup has been there.

We avoid all electrical junctions, exposed wiring, or frames during cleaning. Our method focuses only on the panel’s glass surface using water-fed poles and soft bristle brushes. If we notice exposed or damaged electrical parts, we’ll report them immediately and halt cleaning in that area.

While we don’t offer bird deterrent installations, we’ll alert you if we notice bird activity or debris. Bird droppings and nesting materials can block sunlight and damage panel surfaces, so it’s best to clean regularly and consult a pest control professional if nesting becomes frequent.

We only clean when conditions are safe for both our technicians and your panels. If snow, ice, or storm debris is present, we may delay or reschedule until the roof is clear and dry. Attempting to clean in unsafe conditions can damage panels or compromise technician safety.

We recommend waiting at least 3–6 months before your first cleaning. This allows time for natural dust and buildup to accumulate, making the service worthwhile. If your panels are installed near trees or dusty areas, earlier cleaning may be beneficial.
